RACE 1 – POSITION 15
Doohan went into Sochi as a Championship title contender, and got the perfect start to his campaign when he claimed his second pole position of the year for Sunday’s feature race.
The Reverse Grid meant that the Aussie started from P12 for the opening race of the weekend but in a turn of bad luck on the start Doohan was forced wide into Turn 1 and into the off-track kerb, losing 5 places.
Doohan fought back as best he could throughout the 20 Lap race to finish in P15, but unfortunately, his Championship rival finished further up the field and sealed the title, meaning Doohan finished second in the F3 Championship.
RACE 2 – CANCELLED DUE TO HEAVY RAIN
RACE 3 – POSITION 1 🏆
Doohan started from Pole Position for Sunday’s feature race as the Aussie looked for his fourth race win of the year.
The Trident driver made a strong start off the line to maintain his lead without a challenger for the first half of the race.
However, Trident team-mate Clement Novalak made an attempt for the lead position on Lap 9 but was denied, running off-track into Turn 1.
The pair would battle off again on Lap 17 as Novalak grabbed hold of the lead momentarily, but Doohan fought back to reclaim the position moments later.
There was no stopping the Aussie from there as he went onto claim the feature race win and cement his second place finish in the 2021 FIA F3 Championship.
