Toby Price has again been crowned ‘King of the Desert’ with Jason Duncan at the 2023 Finke Desert Race, his 9th Win at the Alice Springs Race.

"The moisture has been good for the race, but the moisture is a lot harder on the equipment. We’re just trying to be smooth, easy, and trying to get through and have a good run, and we’ve done that. It feels like at the moment we’re doing good on time. It’s hard to be from the front, you just don’t know what’s going on behind you, you don’t know if you’re going fast enough or too slow, it’s a bit of a guessing game."

On Saturday, Toby Price beat his 2022 Prologue effort by a whopping 6 seconds with a time of 4:36.710 around the 8.3km Alice Springs course, with the next placed Car 2.257 seconds behind the #487.

The 226 km leg for Day 1 from Alice Springs to Finke was clear for Price with a flawless run, setting the fastest time in the Cars with a 1:38:35.3, just over 3 minutes faster than the second placed car.

On Sunday the four-wheel field began their return to Alice Springs along the 226km track and Price started the day out in front, where he would finish with a 1:43:11.239.

Price’s win marks his third consecutive Car Category win and ninth Finke Desert Race Win (6 in the bike category & 3 in the car category) with continued support from Red Bull, Mitsubishi Motors, ARB 4X4, Blundstone, Can-Am & BF Goodrich.
